CASE STUDY

Client: Blanc
Brief: Design a promotional influencer gifting kit to promote the release of the client's new game "Blanc" being released on PC and Nintendo Switch

After leading an idea generation meeting with the buying team, we settled on several items that we believed fit the theme and aesthetic of the game. As the game is set in a snowy landscape, we lead with a Winter theme for the products, ultimately deciding upon a pair of bespoke thermal socks, a bespoke snow globe, a collectible enamel pin badge, along with a postcard and fully bespoke packaging, including card inserts.

Mockup of gift set sent to client for initial feedback

The game's artwork is monochromatic and I ensured the designs for the kit were aligned with the art style. I created mockups of my proposed designs as accurately as possible to what could be achieved, so that this could be pitched to the client for feedback. The proposed packaging design was also mocked up, so that the client could get a full overview of the proposed kit. The mockups were assembled into a pitch deck to send to the client for feedback.

I was eager for the snow globe to match the 2D perspective of the game itself. To achieve this, I gathered the key artwork from the client and cut each element out onto separate layers using Photoshop, carefully drawing and filling in gaps as I went, so that we were left with a layered 2D effect, which successfully worked when viewing the globe from both in front and behind.

For the socks, I created a vectorised traditional fairisle pattern, while working the games branding into the design and maintaining the black and white aesthetic. This was then added on to a knitted sock template, ensuring that it was a repeat pattern so that the ends perfectly aligned. I also created a custom sock label, again using the brand's key artwork for consistency.
